Dyckia platyphylla is a smaller plant with single heads that get up to 12 inches wide. Larger clusters are produced over time. The leaves are much wider than most Dyckias. These do better in a little bit of shade, but can tolerate full sun for most of the day. The tops of the leaves are green and are contrasted with white underneath. The flowers are yellowish-orange with spikes as long as 30 inches. I have found these to be cold hardy to 15F, but some burn can occur with a heavy frost if the plants are not under some cover. |
