Dyckia Nickel Silver is one of the most asked for silver Dyckias for landscape use. I have found it to be very cold hardy and showed no damage at 16F. In Mid-day sun, the plants are silver with a bright orange flower, but at dusk, as seen in the bottom left hand picture, the silver seems to glow and the flowers are more intense in color. A single plant will attain a 15 inch spread, but a cluster can get much larger in time. The flowers are orange with a red spike up to four feet tall. It's no wonder that Dyckia Nickel was one of the FNGLA Garden Select plants for 2010. |
