Dyckia Cherry Coke

Dyckia Cherry Coke is a hybrid between D. platyphylla and Carlsbad. I have found it to be very cold hardy and will tolerate temperatures in the upper teens. They showed slight damage at 16F. When grown in full sun it will get a dark red color, but kept in shade it will turn almost green. A single plant will attain a 30 inch spread, but a cluster can get much larger in time. The flowers are yellow-orange with a flower spike up to four feet tall. Recently, this has been the must have red Dyckia for landscape use. It's no wonder that Dyckia Cherry Coke was one of the FNGLA Garden Select plants for 2010.
